The bulb is precision-moulded and carefully coated with carbon and fibreglass as outer shell reinforcement – options which you can select by your choice (extra customization available), Our IOM hulls are made by utilizing advanced vacuum bagging methodology which ensures an optimized stiffness-to-weight ratio, significantly enhancing the structural longevity of our IOM hulls. This highly tested and already proven technology is recognizable through our distinct patterns on the interior fibreglass fabric which you can see within our International One Metre (IOM) hulls. Such intricate designs are indicative of the hull’s great resistance to indentations, even under manual hand pressure, and its unwavering structural integrity when subjected to rigorous conditions during regattas, Also, all the IOM hulls that we manufacture impose the following: precise bonding, ensuring that the core’s adhesion to the facing is structurally robust, minimizing imperfections from potential voids, consistent pressure application, mitigating the risks of putty pooling or regions deficient in putty due to uneven clamping forces, an absolute adherence of the core to facings, optimizing the hull structure’s inherent mechanical attributes, Magnetic Pivot Line System: Traditional wire attachment systems are outdated—we use an advanced magnet line system, ensuring precision, durability, and seamless performance. Large Hatch & Optimized Access: K2 features a large lid opening, allowing easy access to electronics and rapid humidity evaporation. No need for extra openings, keeping the hull watertight while simplifying maintenance. Specialized Internal Electronics Pot: Instead of unattractive Velcro or similar solutions, K2 incorporates a custom-fitted internal pot that provides extra protection, organization, and a clean, professional finish inside the hull. Decades-Lasting Bumper Design: The K2 bumper is built to last for decades, eliminating the need for replacements. The K2 IOM sailboat can have installed our Sailboat RC optimized IOM winch (with self-tensioning spiral drum) and high-quality rudder Futaba servo (depending on the options you select when ordering this item/IOM yacht on our webshop), Sailboat RC also manages servo/tiller connector within the hull and advanced interior sheeting setup (Sailboat RC IOM sailboats are well known for having the ability to do excellent “power jibes”), All sheetings and braid setup have premium sheeting rope / material which is made from ultra-high-molecular-weight-polyethylene, A set of black deck patches is the default option and you can select different colors per your custom request, Comprehensive instructions and guidelines (PDF) on how to finish the boat, The fin/bulb and rudder are mounted using purposely made jigs for correct alignment with the hull, Our IOM RC sailboats are tested for leakage and quality checked (QC) before delivery so we try to eliminate any possible worries before shipping, The hull outer shell (surface) is made by applying a pigmented UP-based gelcoat that ensures an excellent connection between the gelcoat layer and the epoxy laminate, but it also protects our K2 hull from environmental influences and harmful UV radiation. Pigmented UP and epoxy gel coat are used rather than paint. The main advantages are: – The outer shell surface is hard & resistant and the hydrodynamic smooth surface is easier to maintain during the boat’s lifetime, – Gel coat contributes to the overall ability of the hull shell to retain the original shape – better than a layer of primer and/or paint which are just adding weight unnecessarily, – Scratches over time are less visible with our advanced “no-paint” IOM hull technology, – Repairs are straightforward – pigmented epoxy resin filler in cracks will solve the problems efficiently (we send a small paint sample with each hull for free!), – Easy restoration of original surface finish by means of wet sanding and polishing, – Easy removal of Dacron self-adhesive patches without accidental peeling of deck surface paint.
